ASCENT/TREP

Accelerating Students through Concurrent Enrollment (ASCENT) is a fifth-year high school program (fall and spring semesters) that covers tuition costs at a participating college the year following 12th grade. Eligible and approved ASCENT students are able to attend a participating college (trade school, community college or approved four-year university) and DCSD will cover the tuition costs. The ASCENT program gives students the opportunity to continue their education, and follow their path leading to a career in their chosen field.

Eligibility

  • Student must meet the required 24 credits
  • Students must complete 20 community service hours
  • Graduation competencies in English and Math.
  • Students must complete an Academic Plan (ICAP)~Naviance Tasks

9 Credit Hours

Concurrent enrollment courses C or above, AP 3+ & IB 4+

Complete the FAFSA or CASFA

No stacking/doubling dipping with ASCENT/TREP with Financial Aid (FA includes Loans, Grants, Institutional scholarships & work Study) *Private scholarships are allowed

Apply and be accepted by DCSD partner college

ASCENT Application Students must apply and be approved. The application opens 1 March & Closes 1 May. This is not a guaranteed program slots are limited.

Meet with District ASCENT/TREP District Program specialist School Counselor

Once identified as an ASCENT/TREP recipient, the student is required to attend a virtual or in-person orientation meeting with Mrs. Evelyn Peterson. During this meeting, they will complete the ASCENT agreement, virtually be introduced to the ASCENT contact from the partner school to discuss scheduling, and review the ASCENT/TREP requirements specific to that institution.
